When seconds
decide survival

APAWS is a solar-powered, mesh-connected warning network that reaches every barangay — even when power grids and phone signals fail. Built for the Philippines. Built for the last mile.

Most disasters don't kill people.
Late warnings do.

Every year, floods sweep through communities with little to no notice. Landslides bury homes before residents can flee. Tsunamis reach the shore while phones remain silent. The tragedy isn't always the hazard — it's the gap between knowing and telling.
Traditional warning systems depend on cell towers, internet connections, and central power grids. In the exact moment disaster strikes, those are the first things to fail. APAWS was built to fill that gap — a rugged, self-powered, mesh-connected voice warning network that keeps working when everything else goes down.

One network.
Every hazard.
Every barangay.

APAWS links a network of solar-powered warning stations across your LGU territory. Each station can blast sirens, play pre-recorded evacuation instructions, or relay your voice live — triggered from a single command center or operated independently on the ground.

Flood Typhoon Tsunami Landslide Volcanic Eruption Storm Surge
LoRaMesh RF Network
Stations communicate through a self-healing mesh radio network operating at 433 MHz or 915 MHz. If one node goes down, the signal reroutes automatically — with a range of up to 5 km per hop, no towers needed.
High-Power Horn Speakers
Four horn speakers per station, connected to a high-power audio amplifier. Loud enough for an entire barangay to hear — whether it's a siren blast, a recorded evacuation message, or your operator speaking live.
Solar Power System
Each station runs entirely on solar — with a panel, charge controller, and battery bank that keeps the system operational through nights, cloudy days, and full grid blackouts. No electricity bill. No downtime.
Command Center GUI
A simple Windows-based interface lets operators select individual stations or broadcast to all at once, choose between siren, pre-recorded message, or live microphone — and log every activation with a timestamp for accountability.
Local Control Fallback
No signal? No problem. Every station has a local control panel with a built-in microphone. Operators on the ground can trigger sirens or speak directly to the community without any remote connection.
built for everyday disaster

A warning for
every threat

From riverbanks to coastlines to mountainsides — APAWS was designed with the Philippine hazard map in mind.

🌀
Typhoon Alerts

In the typhoon belt, it's not just wind speed that matters — it's how fast you can move thousands of people. APAWS pushes preemptive siren alerts and pre-recorded instructions across all stations simultaneously, hours before landfall.

Landslide Zones

Mountain communities know the risk. When rainfall sensors cross critical thresholds, APAWS triggers targeted alerts to the stations nearest to the slope — giving residents in high-risk zones the few minutes they need to get to higher ground.

🌋
Volcanic Eruption

Alert levels change fast. When PHIVOLCS raises the level, your command center can push rapid, clear evacuation orders to all zones around the volcano in seconds. No scrambling for radios. No waiting for cell signals. Just a clear, audible instruction to every community at once.

THE CHALLENGE

Why Warning Systems Matter

In disaster-prone regions, early warning is the difference between life and death. Communities need reliable, fast, and resilient alert systems

Natural Disasters

Floods, typhoons, tsunamis, landslides, and volcanic eruptions can strike with little warning, threatening lives and property

Critical Response Time

A robust alerting system ensures early warning, which saves lives, reduces damage, and enables timely evacuations

Last-Mile Communication

Multi-function warning stations serve as critical last-mile communication tools when traditional infrastructure fails

Trigger Alert

Operator triggers alert from GUI at command center, selecting target stations and message type

LoRaMesh Transmission

Command center sends signal via LoRaMesh RF network to target warning stations

Station Receives & Confirms

Target stations receive command and send acknowledgement back to command center

Audio Playback

Arduino controller plays siren or selected voice message through amplifier

Community Alert

Audio is broadcast through 4 high-power horn speakers, reaching the entire coverage area

Local Fallback

If LoRaMesh fails, operators can activate alerts locally using on-site controls and microphone
